Huge improvements this past week on my writing. I am very proud of what I have worked on. There’s a ton of comedy that I hope will make your sides hurt from laughter when you read Fight Until Free. It’s going to have just as much if not more comedy than The Unique Campaign. It’ll have its fair share of horror, fantasy, paranormal, sci-fi, adventure and much more. A little something for everyone. I have been doing some writing by hand and then later typing it into the manuscript. This has been a very fun strategy that I have not done since The Unique Campaign, so I am happy to report this has been successful.

Moving right along with the writing, updates, what I called “Short-editing” – which is editing as I reread what I just wrote, and illustrating. I am so excited things are going well now. I was worried last month that after my hospital visit and all the follow up doctor visits (and testing) that I wouldn’t be in a good way to be creative. I have taken a big step in learning a few more things regarding advertising and I’m going to do my best to promote more in 2026 after Destined Existence: Fight Until Free is published. Right now, Destined Existence: The Unique Campaign is available in a few bookstores in PA, WV, VA, MD, and DE. Thank you to all the places that have my book available. It’s a small start, but as long as I keep putting the work in, eventually it’ll get bigger. I’m not looking to be “social media famous.” I just want my fantasy, sci-fi, new weird, comedy books and art to be enjoyed. And I want to keep being creative. Peace!
Great news! I’m nearly finished a chapter I have been working on since November. You’re probably wondering why it would take me so long to work on one chapter that long. Well, I had to keep returning to that chapter because back in November it was nearly finished and then my computer had an update and as my file was saving on a flash drive, it erased my entire file. Luckily, I had plenty of backups of the manuscript but not that chapter I had updated. I was really upset and had to abandon that chapter and move on before I was able to go back to it. I had to rewrite it several times, trying to get it as perfect as it had been before, and it was depressing. But now that I had help from my husband and writing group friends it’s been easier to tackle. I can’t wait until it’s finished! I won’t have to keep going back to it and I’ll be proud of my achievement. Plus, if my readers really enjoy this chapter that in itself is wonderful. I hope you like it. It’s a mix of my chapters 3 and 4. It used to only be chapter 3, but I had to expand it. So, once you read those two chapters, just know it was a lot of work for me to make it just right for it to be a great chapter – and hopefully help and inspire other readers and writers out there to never give up.
I have been finding inspiration in so many things that have been encouraging me to write. My writing group is awesome and I love working with them. Huge shout out to them this week. Let’s keep our inspiration going and keep writing for our enjoyment and doing what we love. I look forward to writing every day that I can to finish Fight Until Free.
Well, I have had an interesting week of working on illustrations for the book. The more I draw the more it’s easier to describe certain scenes that is for sure. It makes me want to draw more but I have to keep telling myself “There’s going to be enough art in this book. No more. Control yourself.” I think I’m going to lose control over myself.
I shall make this book series into a comic book one day. After my time in hospital, I had to take a few days to recover. I was not myself in those days and missed valuable writing time. I did manage to take notes, do some sketches, and come up with new ideas. So, I didn’t stop working, it was just a different kind of working for the book.
Anyway, I have been very busy with illustrations for the book chapters. They have been so much fun to ink. I am really proud of the detail I’m giving these drawings. Sure, my first book’s illustrations are great, and make wonderful coloring book pages, but I’ve really been putting amazing detail into these new drawings. If I can channel Frank Frazetta, that’d be like walking in a dream for real. His art work is fantastic and my favorite. Today marks a week since I have been in hospital and I am back to writing. My Betas have been very helpful with the first couple of chapters. Thank you, Beta Readers! I am feeling better and more like myself, although I am getting further doctor check-ups to make sure. Let’s all stay healthy! Tomorrow, I have The Small Business Expo and then on Saturday I am at the Christmas in July event. I’ll be selling my first book and coloring books. After that, I am taking a nice long break from events so I can focus on Fight Until Free. Stay creative and I’ll update next week. Peace. I hope everyone had a great 4th of July weekend.
I had a very nice time with family before I returned to work, but I have had a head ache that keeps coming and going since Monday night. I’m not sure what that’s about, but it’s made focusing kind of difficult. It didn’t keep me from writing myself notes that I will be adding to my book. I’ve also been working on the illustrations all week. There are more illustrations in this book than in my first, so I have to up with that. I do my best to get between two to four illustrations inked per day. Sometimes it’s only one, depending on the amount of detail, or if I spend more time writing than making art. I also got everything prepped for the two events I have coming up this month: The Small Business Expo and Christmas in July, both with the Martinsburg Farmers Market at The Roundhouse. I lost all day of work on Thursday. (Yesterday.) I had to give myself a sick day because I spent 12 hours in hospital. I am okay. So now I’m playing catch up. Time to get back to work. Progress update coming next week. |
