I am very sad to announce that I am playing the waiting game in a backlog as I wait for my assigned LCCN before I publish Destined Existence: Fight Until Free.
There is no assigned publication date as of now because I do not know how long it'll take. It is out of my hands. I'm trying to make myself feel better with a quote from Teela in the 1980s He-Man and the Masters of the Universe cartoon. I just want to give a quick update. So, I am still waiting on my LCCN (Library of Congress Control Number). I cannot submit my book to the copyright office or publish without this, so I am stuck in “limbo” until I get it. (They usually assign your number in 10 – 15 business days. This Friday will be “15 business days,” and if I do not have the LCCN by then, I will contact them on Monday, June 29th.) Luckily, I am still going over the proof and working hard on those final adjustments. If I were already finished and just twiddling my thumbs waiting for the LCCN, I’d go insane. I know I was excited about publishing at the end of June, but if that does not happen, know that I am very sorry, and the book will be published and printed as soon as I can. Unfortunately, the government part about publishing is out of my hands. I know many who self-publish and choose a different route, but I didn’t want to just put my work on Amazon or another book site and risk my hard work being stolen. (That happens to a lot of self-published authors who do not take the extra steps with the copyright process. Especially now that AI is a thing.) I took the extra steps for my book series, so I am technically publishing the same way a traditional publisher does. That’s why there’s so much time and work involved. I have been working very hard on my manuscript and illustrations the last couple of months. My family and I have been dealing with the failing health of a loved one, and it's forced my schedule to change here and there, but I am still set for my book to be published in April. (If this was to change I would make updates here on my page and my other social media.)

This weekend, September 13th and 14th I will be at Fright Reads Book Festival at Howard County Fairgrounds, 2210 Fairgrounds Rd, West Friendship, MD. I have paperback and hardcover copies of my first book and coloring books series ready to go, along with stickers and bookmarks. It’s going to be such a fun weekend. I have done lots of solo book events and other events like conventions, markets, and community gatherings, but this will be my first large book event. I am really excited and looking forward to meeting other sci-fi, fantasy, and horror authors.
Because I am so busy with my sequel, I will post blogs every other week on Mondays now. The next big update will be on Monday, September 22nd. I am so excited for getting this manuscript finished as soon as possible. I have to work on the illustrations more. I have been getting back into drawing regularly, which has been wonderful. I want to finish painting the cover art as well. Some days I feel as busy as the artists and writers who worked for Walt Disney back in the 30s. I’m okay with that. Even greater news, my online writing group members are increasing and we’re going to schedule writing in person in September. It’s going to be so motivational to be able to write with other creatives. Writing is so much fun.
